How to Install a Laundry Stacking Kit: A Step-by-Step Guide

Maximising space in your laundry room is essential, and a laundry stacking kit allows you to safely stack your tumble dryer on top of your washing machine. This step-by-step guide will help you install your stacking kit securely and efficiently.

Tools You’ll Need:

• A drill with an 8mm bit
• A spirit level
• A measuring tape

Step 1 - Attach the Rubber Stands

Before placing the stacking kit, attach the rubber stands to the locations marked for the plastic feet on the appliance. These rubber stands help absorb vibrations and prevent movement during use.

Can all washing machines and tumble dryers be stacked?

Not all washing machines and dryers can be stacked. Always check your manufacturer’s guidelines to ensure compatibility. Front-loading machines are typically stackable, whereas top-loading washers are not suitable for stacking.

Step 2 - Position the Stacking Kit

Place the stacking kit on top of the washing machine, ensuring it aligns correctly with the appliance’s feet. Double-check that the kit sits evenly and is flush with the surface.

How do you know if you can stack a washer and dryer?

You can stack a washer and dryer if:

• Both appliances are front-loading.
• The washer is at the bottom (never place a dryer below a washer).
• You have a stacking kit designed for your specific model.
• The combined weight does not exceed your washer’s weight capacity.

Step 3 - Measure for Drilling Holes

Using a measuring tape, check the distance from both sides of the wall. There should be a 5cm gap from the stacking kit to the side and 5cm downward. Mark these positions, as they will guide you when drilling holes to secure the kit.

Step 4 - Secure the Stacking Kit

Drill holes at the marked spots using an 8mm drill bit. Once the holes are in place, fasten the screws tightly to ensure a stable connection. Attach the straps around the hooks and the stacking kit holes, securing the setup using four plastic feet on each side.
